From the recording The View From Here

'I Don’t Want To Leave' is about a magical winter evening in Smithers, British Columbia. The snow had been falling all day and blanketed heavily around the log cabin housing the music instructors at the Smithers fiddle camp. The instructors had jammed all evening long and the cacophony of joyful music-making had faded to stillness late into the evening. You’ll have to listen to the song for the rest.

Lyrics

Snow falls softly down, in sparkling spinning spirals
Blankets on the ground, all around us
The fire's burning down, shadows shift around
Glowing golden halos, in the window

It's easy to believe, there's only you and me
We're quiet company tonight
And you are all I see, your brightness dazzles me
And I don't want to leave, tonight.

Ah Ah

Instrumental

Music's turned down low, a slow and steady cadence
With every word you say, I awaken
As the shadows grow, you anchor me in stillness
Closer, closer now, I know you feel this

It's easy to believe, there's only you and me
We're quiet company tonight
And you are all I see, your brightness dazzles me
And I don't want to leave, tonight.
