From the recording The View From Here

The story of a man who ends up in prison after making some poor choices in his youth. His sentence has been served, but while incarcerated, his parents have passed away and left him the childhood home in northern Ontario. As he makes the journey back, he finds redemption and the hope of a second chance.

Lyrics

The sun was setting deep into the western skies
Its boundless light disappearing right before my eyes
The lonely wind whistles a haunting melody
Of times gone by-a sort of cowboy symphony
And I long for another day

The moon was my mistress as I stared up at the stars
Her company soothing as I open up the bar
The scent of escape as I poured myself some rye
This evening’s answer, but the morning might ask why
And I long for another day

She was an inch away from beautiful
Perched on the edge of that northern town
Hard to believe I never thought this was wonderful
But ya start looking up when they send you down

Interlude

Maybe this will be the ending that I need
A sort of redemption, so my life can proceed
Can’t erase the past, but you can certainly sketch the sun
You are the architect of how your life is run
And I long for another day
